So you may have even bought a manual or two, only to find it was written with the horticulturalist in mind (yikes)! Do these words make you cringe: annual, perinneal, biannual, cool season, warm season, and how about these, don't grow in shady, low pH, sandy, harsh conditions, wind, overgrazing, weeds that grow faster than your nephew, low pans, hard pans, (and those aren't baking terms!).

Even if you are an offseason gardener of sorts, food plots are another beast altogether because of deer behavior and because you may want to hunt on them, which means you can hardly ever just slam them down into the best soil on your property, in the best sunlight, in the best drained area, that you can easily access with all the stuff gardeners go in with.

You may decide to do that, but you'll never see another deer there, so you may want to just submit your photos of your plot to the local agricultural competition!

Then like me you thought there has to be a magic bullet, some single plant with the so called "golden deer essence".

Something that works every time.

And surely these seed mixes with great deer pictures on the front...they must be the answer. Then like me, maybe you even made it far enough to "bite the bullet" and splurge for the expensive and therefore magical seed, only to find out it isn't shipped to your area!

If you made it far enough to get to the check out screen you had to pick your jaw off the floor when you saw the shipping costs exceeded the price of the seed!

Then there is the seed mix, you managed to get to your house, only to find out it didn't spread well in your equipment because the seed size was too variable!
